This past week I had the privilege of sitting in while some of our students shared from the Scriptures on the subject of God’s character. They focused on four names of God: Elohim, Adonai, Jehovah and El Shaddai.
It is always enjoyable for me and very much food for my soul! One of the students shared about El Shaddai. He is Almighty God and He is also the Almighty Breast. He is the source of all and any nourishment and comfort that we will ever need. Psalm 23 paints a beautiful picture of El Shaddai. “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Read those words through slowly, thoughtfully. He is El Shaddai.
